Applicable to     : Master Compact (0358,000 or ADB10 / ADB20) and Olivetti
                    PC1285 (0358,200 or AIB10)

Reason for Issue:
Some machines exhibit random changes E²PROM settings due to potential
weakness in I²C control protocols.

Types Affected:
All units.

   
Description of Change:
Replace system ROM (IC49~0259,011 Issue 1 or 2) with new system ROM
(0258,022 Issue 1). Observe all normal safety, dismantling and reassembly
procedures defined in the Service Manual.


Claim Procedure:
Following completion of the field change order instructions, service
engineers should fill out a service report clearly stating the serial no. of
the host unit, the FCO no. (above), and claim the FCO credit rate (below)
for labour charges. Any replaced components should be wrapped to ensure safe
carriage and returned with the service report. Acorn will verify the
information and, process the claim for labour charges and issue any
replacement components as necessary.
